Lexden Wood Launches Unlimited Junior and Student Golf Memberships

Lexden Wood Golf & Leisure Club has launched a package of concession memberships designed to bring younger players into the game — and to make it easier for their families to join them on the course.

Under-18s can now access unlimited golf for £300 a year, while full-time students can play as often as they like for £500. Both memberships come with no joining fee — a deliberate move to reduce the upfront cost that can put young people off committing to the sport.

To support families signing up together, any adult joining at the same time as a junior member will also have their £150 joining fee waived — regardless of which points membership tier they choose. From the entry-level Bronze package through to the top-tier Diamond unlimited membership, the saving applies across the board.

"Golf should be accessible to everyone, and that starts with getting young people through the door. These memberships are about removing the barriers — financial and otherwise — so that juniors and students can enjoy everything Lexden Wood has to offer from day one."

The initiative reflects a wider push across the sport to grow participation among younger age groups. With a full-length course, driving range, and professional tuition on offer at Bakers Lane in Colchester, Lexden Wood is positioning itself as a natural home for golfers at the start of their journey — not just those already established in the game.

The club's points membership system, which allows adult members to pre-invest in rounds at a significant discount to standard pay-and-play rates, is also available to families where a junior is signed up — with that joining fee waiver acting as an immediate incentive to commit.
